Luis Fonsi is a Puerto Rican singer and songwriter, globally recognized for his musical contributions and philanthropic efforts, particularly with the record-breaking hit ‘Despacito.’ After signing with Universal Music Latin, Luis Fonsi released his debut album ‘Comenzaré’ in 1998, which quickly peaked at number 11 on Billboard’s Top Latin Albums chart, marking his initial breakthrough across Latin America. His early career saw him performing at the Great Jubilee Concert for a Debt-Free World for Pope John Paul II in 2000 and opening for Britney Spears’ Dream Within a Dream Tour in 2002. Fonsis English album ‘Fight The Feeling’ was released in 2002, and his fifth album ‘Abrazar la vida’ in 2003 further expanded his reach, achieving European market success with singles like ‘¿Quién Te Dijo Eso?’ topping Billboard Latin charts. His sixth album, ‘Paso a Paso,’ debuted at number one in 2005.
That same year, he performed ‘Right Where I’m Supposed to Be’ for the Special Olympics World Summer Games and at the opening ceremony of the Pan American Games. In 2024, Luis Fonsi voiced the main character in the Dominican animated film ‘Captain Avispa’ and earned another Latin Grammy Award for Best Pop Vocal Album for ‘El Viaje.’ Recognized for his extensive career and contributions, he was named tourism ambassador of Puerto Rico in 2017. Looking ahead, Fonsi is slated to return as a guest narrator for Disney’s Candlelight Processional in 2025.
