Mannequin Pussy

Mannequin Pussy is an American punk and indie rock band formed in Philadelphia in October 2010. The band started as a two-piece with Marisa “Missy” Dabice on guitar and vocals, and Athanasios Paul on drums. In their early years, they released two EPs, “Bonerjamz!” and “Meatslave,” in 2011. The group expanded in 2013 with Drew Adler joining on drums and Paul moving to guitar. Their first full-length album, “Gypsy Pervert,” was released in October 2013 as a limited cassette. This album was later re-released in 2014 by Tiny Engines, retitled “Mannequin Pussy” due to concerns about the original title. The band’s musical style has been described as a mix of punk rock and indie rock, incorporating elements of noise and melodic hooks.

In 2015, Kaleen Reading became the new drummer, and in 2016, Colins “Bear” Regisford joined as bassist, completing the core lineup. That same year, Mannequin Pussy released their second album, “Romantic,” on Tiny Engines. The title track gained recognition, with Rolling Stone ranking it number 14 on its “50 Best Songs of 2016” list. The band signed with Epitaph Records in 2019, releasing their third album, “Patience,” which was described by Dabice as focusing on self-acceptance and love. This period also saw them confront an accounting dispute with their former label, Tiny Engines, regarding artist payments. In 2020, Mannequin Pussy, like many artists, faced tour cancellations due to the COVID-19 pandemic.

After Athanasios Paul’s departure in March 2021, the band continued as a three-piece, releasing the “Perfect” EP in May 2021. This EP was largely written in the studio and featured Colins “Bear” Regisford on lead vocals for the first time on the track “Pigs Is Pigs.” Their music also gained broader exposure with songs like “Who You Are” and “In Love Again” featured in the HBO miniseries “Mare of Easttown” (2021), and “Loud Bark” in the TV series “The Hunting Wives” (2025). In August 2023, Mannequin Pussy launched their own imprint, Romantic Records, and reissued “Romantic.” Maxine Steen, a touring guitarist since 2021, became a full member, making them a four-piece again. Their fourth studio album, “I Got Heaven,” was released on March 1, 2024, and in 2026, the band is scheduled to join select dates of the Foo Fighters’ “Take Cover Tour.”
