Mansionz

Mansionz is an American alternative hip-hop duo formed in 2016 in Los Angeles, California. The group consists of Mike Posner and Matthew “blackbear” Musto, who are both established musicians and long-time collaborators. Their partnership predates Mansionz, with Posner and Musto having worked together on songwriting for other artists. This collaborative history forms the foundation of Mansionz’s musical identity, blending their individual styles into a distinct sound.

The duo officially debuted under the name Mansionz in late 2016, rapidly releasing their first single “Stfu” featuring Spark Master Tape on December 9, 2016. This was followed by their self-titled debut album, “Mansionz,” released on March 24, 2017, under the Island Records label. The album gained attention with additional singles like “Rich White Girls” and “Dennis Rodman,” the latter featuring basketball icon Dennis Rodman. The duo further promoted their album by making an appearance at the 59th Annual Grammy Awards, where they sported distinctive lime-green hair, a visual element integral to their album’s promotion. The album featured collaborations with artists such as Soren Bryce, G-Eazy, CyHi The Prynce, and Snoozegod, and received generally positive reviews.

Following their debut, Mansionz released music videos for “Rich White Girls” in March 2017 and “Dennis Rodman” in May 2017. Their first official live performance as Mansionz occurred in June 2017, during a blackbear concert in Detroit, where Posner made a surprise appearance. The duo performed several tracks from their debut album and hinted at future collaborations. “Wicked” was announced as the fourth single from “Mansionz” in August 2017, accompanied by remixes. In October 2018, Mansionz performed three songs at Red Rocks Amphitheatre, teasing a second album. This second album, “Mansionz 2,” was subsequently released on October 31, 2023, showcasing their continued artistic evolution within the alternative hip-hop, R&B, and electropop genres.
