Matt Sorum first made his mark in the music industry contributing to the debut album of Y Kant Tori Read in 1988, before joining The Cult as their live drummer for the 1989/1990 Sonic Temple tour. Later in 1989, Sorum was recruited by Guns N’ Roses guitarist Slash to join the band, replacing Steven Adler. During his seven-year tenure with Guns N’ Roses, Sorum recorded seminal albums including the multi-platinum selling Use Your Illusion I (1991) and Use Your Illusion II (1991), as well as The Spaghetti Incident? (1993).
His enduring impact on rock music was officially recognized in 2012 when he was inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame as a member of Guns N’ Roses, acknowledging his pivotal contributions to the genre. Sorum continued his solo efforts with the release of his second album, Stratosphere, in 2014, further exploring his creative voice.
