Matt Sorum

Matthew Sorum is a renowned American drummer celebrated for his dynamic contributions to the hard rock genre. He first gained prominence as a member of The Cult, where he showcased his exceptional drumming skills during the band’s 1989 tour supporting their acclaimed album, Sonic Temple. His powerful performances caught the attention of Guns N’ Roses guitarist Slash, leading to his pivotal role as the band’s drummer from 1990 to 1997. During this period, Sorum recorded three iconic albums: Use Your Illusion I, Use Your Illusion II, and The Spaghetti Incident?, solidifying his status as a rock legend.

After his tenure with Guns N’ Roses, Sorum reunited with The Cult for their 2001 album, Beyond Good and Evil, before co-founding the supergroup Velvet Revolver alongside former bandmates Slash and Duff McKagan. Velvet Revolver achieved significant success with their debut album, Contraband, which won a Grammy Award and showcased Sorum’s versatility and creativity as a drummer. The band’s follow-up album, Libertad, further cemented their legacy in rock music.

In addition to his work with these prominent bands, Sorum has been an active member of various projects, including the hard rock cover band Camp Freddy and the supergroup Hollywood Vampires. His contributions to these groups highlight his adaptability and passion for music, as he continues to tour and record with notable artists.
