Mattias Inwood

Mattias Inwood was born in Wānaka, New Zealand, and pursued his theatrical education at Toi Whakaari, where he earned a Bachelor’s degree in performing arts in 2015. His career began to gain significant traction shortly after, with an early breakthrough role in a popular fantasy series. This foundational training and initial success established a trajectory for his subsequent work in both New Zealand and international productions.

Inwood’s career demonstrates consistent progression across various acting platforms. From 2016 to 2017, he appeared as Lorin in “The Shannara Chronicles.” Following this, in 2017, he took on the role of Richard Burbage in the TNT series “Will,” a dramatization of William Shakespeare’s early life. In 2018, he further expanded his filmography by playing Corey Welch in the Netflix series “Tidelands.” More recently, from 2021 to 2022, he portrayed Dr. Tom Griffiths in the long-running New Zealand soap opera “Shortland Street,” appearing in 111 episodes. These roles highlight his capacity for engaging with diverse characters and storylines.

Beyond acting, Inwood has also contributed to production, serving as a third assistant director for 5 episodes of the TV series “Kura” in 2020. He has also worked in the sound department, notably as a loop artist for the 2019 film “Guns Akimbo” and as a boom operator for the 2018 short film “Today’s the Day (My Wedding Day).” This varied experience demonstrates his comprehensive understanding of the filmmaking process.
