Myles Frost was born on July 21, 1999, in Silver Spring, Maryland. Raised by his mother, a systems engineer, and his grandmother, a school teacher, he developed a passion for golf at age three and piano at age five. His early musical endeavors included singing and playing piano and drums at church, and performing in an R&B cover band in middle school. While attending Thomas S. Wootton High School in Rockville, Maryland, he participated in school musical productions, including “Hairspray” as Seaweed, “Legally Blonde” as Warner, and “Cinderella” as Lord Pinkleton. In 2017, during his high school years, Frost appeared as a contestant on NBC’s “The Voice” Season 13.
After high school, Frost pursued music technology at Belmont University in Nashville for two years before transferring to Bowie State University to study audio engineering. His academic career took a significant turn when he landed the lead role of Michael Jackson in Broadway’s “MJ The Musical.” This pivotal role showcased his diverse talents as a self-trained pianist, actor, singer, songwriter, dancer, music producer, and audio engineer. His performance garnered critical acclaim, leading to numerous accolades, including the 2022 Tony Award for Best Leading Actor in a Musical, making him the youngest solo actor to achieve this honor. He also received the 76th Annual Theatre World Award for Outstanding Broadway Debut Performance, the 2022 Chita Rivera Award, a 2022 Drama League Award nomination, a 2022 Drama Desk Award nomination, and a 2022 Outer Critics Circle Award nomination. Additionally, the cast recording of “MJ The Musical” earned him a Grammy Award nomination. Frost concluded his initial run in the Broadway production on April 2, 2023, but returned to reprise the role in the West End production which opened on March 27, 2024, concluding his run on January 11, 2025.
Beyond his stage success, Myles Frost has built a professional portfolio that includes acting and music credits in various film and television projects. He notably appeared in the film “All In” as Shane, an autistic 14-year-old, in 2019. He also contributed original music to Netflix’s “Family Reunion” (Season 1 and 2), where he also made vocal appearances as a singer in 2019-2020. In 2021, Frost played Clarence in the biopic “Big 50” THE DELRHONDA HOOD STORY, which aired on BET Networks. His most recent film role was as Trayvon Martin in “Origin” (2023).
