Jordan Carl Wheeler Davis was born on March 30, 1988, in Shreveport, Louisiana, to Luwanna and Ricky Davis. Coming from a family with musical roots, his uncle, Stan Paul Davis, was a songwriter who penned hit singles for Tracy Lawrence. His older brother, Jacob Davis, also pursued a career as a country music singer. Jordan initially pursued a different path, graduating from Louisiana State University in Baton Rouge with a degree in environmental science. However, influenced by his brother, he moved to Nashville in 2012 to pursue music.
After honing his craft, Davis signed a recording contract with Universal Music Group Nashville in 2016. His debut single, “Singles You Up,” released in mid-2017, quickly climbed to number one on the Billboard Country Airplay chart by April 2018. This success led to his debut album, “Home State,” released on March 23, 2018, which reached number six on the Top Country Albums chart. The album featured further successful singles like “Take It from Me” and “Slow Dance in a Parking Lot,” both achieving high positions on the Country Airplay chart, with “Slow Dance in a Parking Lot” also reaching number one in 2019.
Davis continued his career progression with the release of extended plays, including a self-titled EP in May 2020 and “Buy Dirt” in May 2021. The title track “Buy Dirt,” featuring Luke Bryan, became a significant milestone, hitting number one on the Hot Country Songs chart and earning him numerous nominations and awards, including CMA Song of the Year in 2022. His second full-length album, “Bluebird Days,” released in early 2023, debuted at 19 on Billboard’s Hot 100 and spawned hit singles like “What My World Spins Around” and “Next Thing You Know.” In 2024, he released singles “Good News Sold,” “I Ain’t Sayin’,” and “Know You Like That” in anticipation of his third album, “Learn the Hard Way,” released in August 2025.
