Naomi Sharon Webster was born on March 4, 1995, in Rotterdam, Netherlands, to an Aruban father and a Dutch mother. Growing up in a musically active family, with her father as a DJ and her mother as a singer, she was exposed to various musical influences from an early age. Artists such as Sade, Eva Cassidy, Marcus Miller, Stevie Wonder, and Sting shaped her artistic development. She attended the Academy of Theatre and Dance, later performing in musical theater productions including “The Lion King” and “Dream Girls.” In the early 2010s, Sharon began performing cover songs and participated in the sixth season of “The Voice of Holland” in 2016.
Sharon officially commenced her recording career in 2019 with the release of her debut single, “The Moon.” In the same year, she delivered a TED Talk for TEDxAmsterdamWomen, focusing on self-love, where she also performed her debut single. Her subsequent single, “Breeze,” attracted the attention of Drake, leading to her signing with his OVO Sound record label in 2023. This marked a significant career milestone, as she became the first female artist to join the label’s roster. Prior to her debut album, she released singles “Definition of Love” and “Hills.”
Her debut album, “Obsidian,” was released on October 20, 2023, receiving critical acknowledgment for its emotional depth and diverse musical influences. Following the album’s release, Sharon embarked on the Obsidian Tour, performing at multiple dates across North America and Europe. In 2024, she released the single “Nothing Sweeter” on January 18. Her EP, “The Only Love We Know,” is scheduled for release in 2025. Sharon’s musical style integrates alternative R&B and ambient house, incorporating elements from Afrobeats and Spanish music, and often explores themes of love, heartbreak, and healing.
