Nay Win is a prominent figure in Myanmar’s hip hop landscape, celebrated for his versatile talents as a rapper, singer, and songwriter. He has transitioned from a founding member of underground hip hop bands to a commercially successful solo artist and entrepreneur. After co-founding the underground hip hop band Snare in 2000 with Sithu Phay Myint, Nay Win quickly established himself as a prominent figure in Myanmars hip hop scene. Snare released its first unofficial album in 2001, producing 40 copies on a limited budget.
His reach extended internationally with tours in Singapore in 2014 and 2015, and performances in Australia and the USA in 2015. Snares third album, ‘Puu Twal Champion,’ released on February 12, 2018, achieved commercial success, topping local album charts. Beyond his work with Snare, Nay Win also demonstrated his songwriting prowess, penning lyrics for esteemed artists such as Sai Sai Kham Leng, Kyar Pauk, Saw Nyi Nyi, Bunny Phyoe, G Fatt, Eint Chit, and Amera Hpone. In late 2018, Nay Win launched his highly anticipated debut solo album, ‘Swe Myo Par Mae,’ on December 1st.
The album became a best-seller, showcasing his distinct personal style and addressing youth-related themes. A notable collaboration in 2019 featured an animated music video for ‘Nga Yee Zar Ka Po Mite Tal’ with other Frenzo artists, garnering millions of views within days of its release. Demonstrating his entrepreneurial acumen, Nay Win also established ‘Oh My Godfather’ (OMG), a fashion design and retail outlet, in 2013, where he actively contributes to designing clothing lines.
