Neil Finn

Neil Finn is a prolific songwriter and musician, known for shaping the sound of influential bands like Split Enz and Crowded House, and for his enduring solo career. After joining Split Enz in 1977 as lead guitarist, Neil Finn quickly became a pivotal songwriter for the influential band, composing hits such as ‘Message to My Girl’ and the group’s first international hit, ‘I Got You,’ released in 1980. Following Split Enz’s disbandment in 1984, Finn co-founded The Mullanes in 1985, which soon evolved into the internationally acclaimed band Crowded House. The band achieved widespread recognition with their 1987 hit ‘Don’t Dream It’s Over,’ a global success that solidified their place in music history.

In 2002, Finn launched the ‘7 Worlds Collide’ initiative, a series of collaborative works resulting in a live album and DVD. His services to music were formally recognized in 1993 when he was appointed Officer of the Order of the British Empire (OBE). Crowded House reformed in 2007 with Finn at the helm, releasing two further albums, Time on Earth and Intriguer, which garnered strong critical reception and reaffirmed their enduring appeal. In 2011, he formed the side project Pajama Club with his wife Sharon.

Most recently, in 2023, Finn made a voice cameo in the popular animated series Bluey, showcasing his continued engagement across various creative platforms.
