About

Christofer Drew Ingle initiated Never Shout Never, originally stylized as nevershoutnever!, as a solo project in Joplin, Missouri, in 2007, at the age of 16. His early career saw rapid success through online platforms like MySpace, leading to the release of “The Yippee EP” in July 2008, which sold 46,000 copies in the US. His single “Big City Dreams” reached number one on the Billboard Hot Singles Sales chart after a performance on TRL. In January 2009, “Me & My Uke” was released, with its lead single “Trouble” charting at number five on the Hot Singles Sales chart and later achieving RIAA gold certification in May 2012. The project’s burgeoning popularity resulted in touring with established acts such as Jamestown Story, Owl City, Hellogoodbye, and Forever the Sickest Kids, culminating in winning the mtvU Woodie Awards for Breaking Woodie in 2009.

Never Shout Never’s trajectory continued with a major label signing to Warner Bros. Records in May 2009, which included launching Drew’s imprint label, Loveway Records. “The Summer EP” was his first release under Warner Bros., selling 46,000 copies. The debut album, “What Is Love?” (January 2010), peaked at number 24 on the Billboard 200, selling 21,000 copies. Subsequent album releases included “Harmony” (August 2010), which debuted at number 14 on the Billboard 200 with 23,000 first-week sales; “Time Travel” (September 2011), reaching number 35 on the Billboard 200; “Indigo” (November 2012); and “Sunflower” (July 2013). The band consistently toured, headlining the Alternative Press AP Tour in 2010 and performing at the Vans Warped Tour in 2010 and 2013. Drew’s commitment to his hometown of Joplin, Missouri, was evident in his efforts to raise $1.2 million for tornado relief in 2011 through a United Way fund and a YouTube video featuring his song “Time Travel.” Further releases included “Recycled Youth, Vol. 1” (March 2015) and “Black Cat” (August 2015).

Key lineup changes occurred with Ian Crawford joining as lead guitarist in June 2014, and his departure in November 2015, followed by bassist Taylor MacFee’s exit in June 2016. Despite a brief hiatus and Drew’s announcements of retirement, Never Shout Never continued to release music, including “Unborn Spark” (2020) and a single “Easy Swagger” (2021). Although Drew declared his retirement in early 2022 to pursue painting, he later announced a return and a new album, only to confirm a second retirement in November 2023. The band’s consistent activity in the music scene, marked by numerous album releases, extensive touring, and chart presence, cemented their impact over more than a decade.
