Nick Wayne made his professional wrestling debut at an Invasion Championship Wrestling event on April 27, 2018, rapidly rising through the ranks of major promotions. His early career on the independent circuit saw him gain significant recognition, notably competing against Jonathan Gresham, Alan Angels, and Konosuke Takeshita at Ric Flair’s Last Match event on July 31, 2022. A major milestone followed on April 8, 2023, when Wayne defeated Swerve Strickland to capture the DEFY World Championship. He successfully defended the title twice before ultimately losing it to Kenta on June 4.

Wayne’s burgeoning talent caught the attention of All Elite Wrestling (AEW), leading to a contract offer from Darby Allin in 2022. He officially signed with AEW in 2023, making his highly anticipated debut on AEW Dynamite on July 12, 2023. His expansion into other promotions continued with his Ring of Honor (ROH) debut on September 21, 2023, where he immediately challenged for the ROH Pure Championship. A pivotal career moment unfolded at WrestleDream on October 1, 2023, when Wayne turned heel, aligning with Christian Cage and subsequently joining the prominent stable, The Patriarchy.

In July 2025, Wayne executed another significant character shift by turning on Christian Cage and disbanding The Patriarchy on July 12. This led to the stable’s renaming to ‘The Matriachy’ on July 16, marking a new chapter in his career. While sidelined in August 2025 due to a broken foot, Wayne’s impact was recognized as he was ranked No. 78 of the top 500 singles wrestlers in the PWI 500 in 2025, underscoring his rapid ascent in professional wrestling.
