Kiari Kendrell Cephus, professionally known as Offset, was born on December 14, 1991, in Lawrenceville, Georgia. His music career began early, notably appearing as a backup dancer in Whitney Houston’s 2002 music video for “Whatchulookinat” at the age of 10. In 2008, Offset co-founded the hip-hop trio Migos with Quavo and Takeoff. The group gained significant traction with their 2013 single “Versace” and went on to release four commercially successful studio albums: *Yung Rich Nation* (2015), *Culture* (2017), *Culture II* (2018), and *Culture III* (2021). The single “Bad and Boujee” from *Culture* became an Internet phenomenon, with Offset’s contributions often highlighted by critics for commanding the track, helping it reach number one on the US Billboard Hot 100.
In addition to his group work, Offset pursued solo endeavors and collaborations. In 2017, he released the collaborative album *Without Warning* with Metro Boomin and 21 Savage. This album peaked within the top ten of the Billboard 200 and produced the hit single “Ric Flair Drip,” which reached number 13 on the Billboard Hot 100, marking his first solo platinum single. Further solo success came with appearances on Tyga’s 2018 single “Taste,” which became his first top ten hit as a soloist on the Billboard Hot 100 and achieved diamond certification. He also featured on Kodak Black’s “Zeze” in 2018, which peaked at number two on the chart.
Offset signed with Motown and Capitol Records for his solo projects, releasing his debut solo album, *Father of 4*, in 2019. The album was a commercial success, reaching the same Billboard 200 position as *Without Warning* and producing the top 40 single “Clout,” featuring Cardi B, which earned a Grammy nomination for Best Rap Performance. He released his second studio album, *Set It Off*, in 2023, preceded by singles like “Jealousy” with Cardi B. His third album, *Kiari*, is slated for release in 2025, with singles like “Bodies” (featuring JID) hinting at its direction. Beyond music, Offset has diversified his career, starring in Donald Glover’s series *Atlanta* (2016), making his acting debut in *NCIS: Los Angeles* (2020), and investing in the Esports organization FaZe Clan in 2019.
