Oso Oso is an acclaimed American rock band hailing from Long Beach, New York, known for their unique blend of emo and indie rock. Founded by Jade Lilitri, the band initially emerged as a side project under the name osoosooso, releasing their first EP through Soft Speak Records. This early work laid the groundwork for Lilitri’s creative vision, which soon evolved into a full-fledged band. The name was shortened to Oso Oso to enhance its appeal and clarity, marking the beginning of a promising musical journey.
In 2014, Oso Oso made a significant impact with their debut full-length album, “Real Stories of True People Who Kind of Looked Like Monsters,” released on Soft Speak Records. This album showcased Lilitri’s songwriting prowess and established the band within the emo scene. Their sophomore effort, “The Yunahon Mixtape,” released in 2017 on Seal Mountain Records, further solidified their reputation, leading to a signing with Triple Crown Records in early 2018.
The band’s third album, “Basking in the Glow,” released in August 2019, received critical acclaim, being named “Best New Music” by Pitchfork. This recognition highlighted Oso Oso’s growth and artistic maturity. Following the tragic loss of guitarist Tavish Maloney in 2021, the band honored his legacy by releasing a full video of their last show together, showcasing their commitment to their craft and fans.
In 2024, Oso Oso continued to evolve with the release of their album “Life Till Bones,” further demonstrating their resilience and creativity.
