Gionata Boschetti, known professionally as Sfera Ebbasta, was born on December 7, 1992, in Sesto San Giovanni, Italy, and grew up in Cinisello Balsamo. His early life involved his parents’ separation when he was two and the death of his father at age 13, leading him to leave school at 14. He began his musical journey by uploading videos to YouTube between 2010 and 2012. During this period, he connected with producer Charlie Charles, forming the collective Billion Headz Money Gang (BHMG), which marked the beginning of his professional music career.
Sfera Ebbasta’s breakthrough occurred in 2015 with the release of his debut studio album, “XDVR,” created with Charlie Charles. Initially offered as a free download, the album was reissued later that year through Roccia Music, an independent label co-founded by Marracash. “XDVR” gained traction in the underground music scene and was instrumental in popularizing trap music in Italy, despite facing criticism for its lyrical content depicting suburban life, criminal activities, and drug use. This success laid the groundwork for his self-titled album “Sfera Ebbasta” in 2016, which signaled a shift to broader lyrical themes and achieved commercial success, topping Italian charts and entering European rankings. He further solidified his position with “Rockstar” in 2018, an album that debuted at number one and earned him the distinction of being the first Italian artist in Spotify’s global top 100.
Throughout his career, Sfera Ebbasta has consistently achieved chart dominance, with multiple albums and singles reaching platinum status. His 2020 album “Famoso” featured collaborations with internationally recognized artists like Offset, Future, Steve Aoki, Diplo, and J Balvin, underlining his global appeal. Besides his solo work, he has collaborated with numerous Italian and international artists on tracks that have also peaked on the charts. He holds the record for the most songs reaching number one in Italy, with 24 tracks achieving this milestone, making him the best-selling artist in Italy of the 2010s.
