Oso Oso

Oso Oso is an American rock band originating from Long Beach, New York. The project began in 2014 as a side-project EP titled ‘Osoosooso’ released through Soft Speak Records. The name was later shortened to Oso Oso. The sole permanent member is Jade Lilitri, who also uses a pen name. In the same year, Oso Oso released a split with the emo band Free Throw.

In 2014, Oso Oso released their first full-length album, ‘Real Stories Of True People Who Kind Of Looked Like Monsters’, on Soft Speak Records. This was followed by ‘The Yunahon Mixtape’ in 2017, released under Seal Mountain Records. Both ‘The Yunahon Mixtape’ and their 2019 release, ‘Basking in the Glow’, received the “Best New Music” distinction from Pitchfork, an online music magazine. In January 2018, the band signed with Triple Crown Records, a label known for its work in the emo-punk genre.

Oso Oso continued to release new music, including ‘gb/ol h/nf / subside’ in 2018 and ‘Basking in the Glow’ in 2019. In March 2021, the band experienced a loss with the death of their guitarist, Tavish Maloney, at age 24. They later released a video of their last collective performance. In July 2024, Oso Oso announced their new album, ‘Life Till Bones’, which was released on August 9, 2024, through Yunahon Entertainment LLC. Their 2022 release, ‘Sore Thumb’, also garnered “Best New Music” recognition from Pitchfork. The band continues to perform live, with upcoming dates scheduled across Europe and the United States in late 2025.
