Petal

Petal commenced its musical journey in September 2013 with the independent release of an extended play titled “Scout.” This initial release garnered attention from Run For Cover Records, leading to a record deal for the band three months later in December 2013. The “Scout” EP was subsequently re-released under the Run For Cover label. The band’s structure consists of Kiley Lotz as the permanent member, supported by a rotating group of musicians for performances and recordings.

On September 1, 2015, Petal released the song “Sooner,” a preview of their debut full-length album, “Shame.” This album was officially released on October 23, 2015, through Run For Cover Records. The band continued its professional progression with the release of “Better Than You” on April 3, 2018, which served as the first single from their second album, “Magic Gone.” This album was released on June 15, 2018, also under the Run For Cover label. The album received positive critical reception, including acknowledgement from Stereogum for its blend of introspective themes and accessible musicality.

Petal embarked on a co-headlining tour across the United States in June and July 2018 alongside fellow Run for Cover label mates, Camp Cope. The band further expanded its reach with a worldwide tour from January to March 2019, performing in the United States with artists such as Sir Babygirl and Cave People, followed by engagements in Europe and the UK supporting Shakey Graves, and concluding with performances in Japan. These tours marked a period of increased visibility and audience engagement for the band.
