Phil Vassar

Phil Vassar was recognized as the American Society of Composers, Authors, and Publishers (ASCAP) Country Songwriter of the Year in 1999, a testament to his prolific songwriting for several country music artists. This success led to his signing with Arista Nashville as a recording artist in late 1999. His debut album, Phil Vassar, released in early 2000, quickly made an impact, featuring the single ‘Carlene’ which ascended to No. 5 on the Billboard country charts.

The album further solidified his standing with his first No. 1 hit as a singer, ‘Just Another Day in Paradise,’ and earned gold certification, establishing him as a significant new voice in country music. Vassar continued his recording success with subsequent albums, including American Child in 2002 and Shaken Not Stirred in 2004. The latter produced his second No.

1 in 2006, Vassar transitioned to Universal South Records (now Show Dog-Universal Music) in 2007. This new chapter yielded the album Prayer of a Common Man in 2008, which featured the impactful No. 2 hit ‘Love Is a Beautiful Thing.’ Throughout his career, Vassar has consistently charted singles on Billboard’s Hot Country Songs, accumulating two number-one hits. He further expanded his professional partnerships by signing with Rodeowave Entertainment in 2011.

In 2020, Vassar released the album Stripped Down, a personal collection featuring songs he had written over two decades. The same year, he showcased his talents in a new medium, starring in the short film I Only Miss You When I’m Breathing. His compelling performance in the film garnered critical acclaim, culminating in him winning Best Actor at the 2020 Long Island International Film Expo, marking a significant achievement beyond his musical endeavors.
