Pleasure P

Marcus Ramone Cooper Sr., known professionally as Pleasure P, began his musical journey as a member of the R&B/hip hop group Pretty Ricky, which originated in Miami, Florida. The group, consisting of two brothers, their cousin, and Cooper as the main singer, gained attention in 2002 with their song “Flossin'” becoming a hit on Miami radio. In 2004, Pretty Ricky released their first official single, “Grind With Me,” which reached number 7 on the Billboard Hot 100 and was certified Platinum by the RIAA. Their debut album, “Bluestars,” released in May 2005, debuted at number 16 on the Billboard 200 and was certified Gold within months. The group continued their success with the album “Late Night Special” in 2007, which topped the Billboard 200 album charts, selling over 132,000 copies in its first week. The single “On the Hotline” also achieved platinum certification.

In 2007, Pleasure P departed from Pretty Ricky to pursue a solo career. His solo debut single, “Did You Wrong,” released in July 2008, debuted at number 90 on the Billboard Hot 100 and number 20 on the R&B/Hip-Hop charts. His debut album, “The Introduction of Marcus Cooper,” was released in June 2009. This album earned him a Grammy Award nomination for Best Contemporary R&B Album at the 52nd Annual Grammy Awards. He also received Grammy nominations for Best Male R&B Vocal Performance and Best R&B Song for “Under.” His solo career also involved collaborations with notable artists like Flo Rida and DJ Khaled, further solidifying his presence in the music industry.

After his solo endeavors, Pleasure P reunited with Pretty Ricky. In 2015, Pretty Ricky released the single “Puddles” with Pleasure P’s return. In 2019, Pleasure P and Pretty Ricky joined The Millennium Tour, an event celebrating early 2000s Hip-Hop and R&B. In 2022, he participated in the web series Verzuz, leading to discussions about forming a supergroup named R.S.V.P. Pleasure P continues to perform and collaborate, demonstrating his lasting influence and appeal in the R&B genre.
