Propagandhi, a highly influential punk rock and metal band, secured a pivotal record deal with Fat Wreck Chords in 1992 following an impactful performance alongside NOFX. This partnership culminated in the release of their critically acclaimed debut album, ‘How to Clean Everything,’ in 1993. Formed in 1986 with guitarist Chris Hannah and drummer Jord Samolesky, the band’s early career saw them release several demos and play significant shows, including one with Fugazi, establishing their distinct presence in the punk community. After initial lineup changes involving bassists Scott Hopper and Mike Braumeister, John K.

Samson departed to form The Weakerthans, Todd Kowalski joined Propagandhi as their new bassist. Concurrently, Hannah and Samolesky co-founded G7 Welcoming Committee Records, an independent label dedicated to participatory economics principles. This new era saw the band release ‘Today’s Empires, Tomorrow’s Ashes’ in 2001, an album that deepened their political discourse and incorporated multimedia content to educate listeners on complex topics such as COINTELPRO. Their musical evolution continued with ‘Potemkin City Limits’ in 2005, and in 2006, Propagandhi received the prestigious SOCAN Songwriting Prize for their track ‘A Speculative Fiction.’ The same year, David Guillas joined as a second guitarist, expanding their sound, which was showcased on the 2007 DVD release, ‘Live from Occupied Territory.’ Propagandhi continued their prolific output with their fifth album, ‘Supporting Caste,’ in 2009.

In 2017, Propagandhi released ‘Victory Lap,’ an album that garnered critical acclaim for its intricate musicianship and unwavering lyrical integrity. The band continues to push boundaries and challenge norms within the punk and metal genres, embodying a consistent presence and reputation for their politically charged music. Looking ahead, Propagandhi has announced their highly anticipated new album, ‘At Peace,’ slated for release in 2025, signaling their ongoing commitment to innovative soundscapes and poignant social commentary.
