About

Puddle of Mudd, formed in Kansas City, Missouri, in 1992, has achieved significant commercial success in the rock music genre. The band’s initial lineup included Wes Scantlin, Jimmy Allen, Sean Sammon, and Kenny Burkitt. Their early work included the seven-song EP “Stuck” (1994) and the eleven-song independent album “Abrasive” (1997). Differences among members led to a lineup change, with Wes Scantlin remaining as the only original member. The band gained widespread recognition after Fred Durst of Limp Bizkit discovered Scantlin’s demo tape, which led to a new lineup forming in California with Doug Ardito, Paul Phillips, and Greg Upchurch.

Their major-label debut album, “Come Clean,” released on August 28, 2001, marked a turning point in their career. The album produced several successful singles, including “Control,” “Blurry,” “Drift & Die,” and “She Hates Me.” “Blurry” achieved significant chart performance, reaching number 5 on the Billboard Hot 100. “Come Clean” ultimately sold over five million copies worldwide and was certified triple platinum in the U.S. by 2003. This success was followed by extensive touring, including opening for Godsmack and Deftones, and participating in the Family Values 2001 tour alongside Linkin Park and Stone Temple Pilots.

Subsequent albums, “Life on Display” (2003) and “Famous” (2007), continued to produce hit singles like “Away From Me” and “Psycho.” “Psycho” topped both the Mainstream Rock Tracks and Hot Modern Rock Tracks charts for nine weeks. The band continued to release music, including “Volume 4: Songs in the Key of Love & Hate” (2009), a covers album titled “Re:(disc)overed” (2011), and “Welcome to Galvania” (2019). Their most recent offerings include “Ubiquitous” (2023) and “Kiss the Machine” (2025), reflecting their continued presence in the rock music scene and adaptability in their sound while maintaining their core identity.
