Shaw Blades is an American musical duo formed in 1995, consisting of Tommy Shaw of the band Styx and Jack Blades of the band Night Ranger. Both musicians had previously collaborated in the supergroup Damn Yankees. The duo’s formation aimed to explore a more acoustic side of their rock roots, producing music that showcased their songwriting and vocal harmonies. Their initial collaboration led to the release of their debut album, “Hallucination,” in 1995. This album featured tracks such as “My Hallucination” and “I’ll Always Be With You,” which received moderate airplay.
Following “Hallucination,” the duo continued to work on individual projects before reuniting for their second album, “Influence,” released in 2007. This album was notable for its focus on cover songs from the 1960s and 1970s, paying tribute to the artists and music that shaped their careers. “Influence” included interpretations of songs like “Summer Breeze” and “Time of the Season.” Both albums demonstrate their consistent ability to create music within the rock genre, blending their established styles from their predominant bands with a distinct collaborative sound. While they have maintained their primary commitments to Styx and Night Ranger, Shaw Blades has undertaken short tours, including those in Spring and Autumn 2007, to support their releases and connect with their audience. Their work has also been featured in other media, with their music appearing in films and television series, further extending their reach and influence.
