Formed by SM Entertainment in May 2008, the South Korean boy band SHINee debuted with their first extended play, Replay, fronted by the single of the same name. Originally a five-member group, the band currently consists of four members: Onew, Key, Minho, and Taemin. Following the tragic passing of Jonghyun on December 18, 2017, the remaining members continued their artistic journey together, maintaining a strong bond with their fan base and each other.
Over the years, the group achieved immense recognition for their musical impact in their native country, earning numerous accolades and the prestigious title “Princes of K-pop”. Their recorded catalog includes songs recognized among the greatest boy band tracks in history. In addition to group releases, members pursued individual projects; for instance, Taemin confirmed his departure from SM Entertainment in March 2024 while remaining a member of the group.
Marking their fifteen-year milestone in the entertainment industry, the band released a dedicated film titled My SHINee World in July 2023 to commemorate their career longevity and achievements. Through decades of changing trends, SHINee remains an influential force in the global music scene, retaining a dedicated following worldwide.
