Samantha Deshaun, known professionally as LightSkinKeisha, was born on September 4, 1994, in Decatur, Georgia, and raised in Atlanta by her single mother alongside her seven siblings. Her early life included 13 years of competitive cheerleading, which she pursued until she began working in the service industry. She launched her public career in 2014 by posting comedic videos on Instagram and YouTube, quickly gaining popularity through viral content that discussed her relationships and daily life. Her stage name was inspired by the character Kisha from the 1998 film “Belly.”

LightSkinKeisha’s music career began in 2017 with her debut single “Weather,” released on SoundCloud, which rapidly gained traction. She signed with L.A. Reid’s Hitco entertainment powerhouse in 2018, a significant milestone that led to the release of her debut mixtape, “That’s Just the Bottom Line,” in December 2018. This project featured her breakout singles “Believe Dat” and “Ride Good” (featuring B. Smyth). Her career progressed with subsequent mixtapes, including “Act Up SZN” (2019), “Talk That Talk” (2020), “Clones” (2020), “Break the Bank” (2021), and “Thought I Was Done?” (2023). She was nominated for an iHeartRadio Music Award for Best New R&B Artist in 2020.

Beyond music, LightSkinKeisha expanded into television, appearing on the ninth season of “Love & Hip Hop: Atlanta” in 2020. That same year, she made her acting debut as BruShandria Carmichael on the Starz television series “Power Book II: Ghost,” a recurring role she held from 2020 to 2024. Her entrepreneurial endeavors include co-founding a female clothing brand, Original Baddie Club, with her husband, Coca Vango. She married Coca Vango in January 2024, and their son, Amin, was born on January 14, 2024.
