Social Animals

Social Animals originated in Duluth, Minnesota, establishing themselves as an alternative rock band. The current lineup includes Dedric Clark on vocals and rhythm guitar, Tony Petersen on lead guitar, Boyd Smith on drums, and Roger Whittet on bass. Initially performing under the name Diet Folk, the band later changed to Social Animals, marking a pivotal moment in their artistic development. Their music is characterized by introspective lyrics and melodies that explore themes of separation and loneliness.

The band has released several EPs and singles, demonstrating their evolving sound and lyrical depth. Notable releases include the “Formative Years” EP in 2016 and “Best Years” in 2020, the latter released through Rise Records. In 2024, Social Animals released “I See Red,” which further showcased their distinctive musical style. Their consistent output of new material and engaging performances have contributed to their presence in the alternative rock scene, particularly in the Midwest.
