Taking Back Sunday

Taking Back Sunday formed in Amityville, New York, in late 1999, founded by guitarist Eddie Reyes and bassist Jesse Lacey. The band quickly evolved its lineup, with Adam Lazzara joining on lead vocals before their 2002 debut album, “Tell All Your Friends.” This album, recorded over two weeks in New Jersey, marked their entry into the music scene via Victory Records. The band experienced early internal changes, with John Nolan and Shaun Cooper departing in 2003 to form Straylight Run, only to rejoin in 2010. Despite these shifts, Taking Back Sunday continued to release music and perform, navigating changing industry landscapes.

In 2004, the band released “Where You Want to Be,” which reached number 3 on the Billboard 200. This success was followed by their 2006 album, “Louder Now,” featuring the single “MakeDamnSure,” which peaked at number 2 on the Billboard 200 and sold over 900,000 copies. This period marked their transition to Warner Bros. Records, a major label. Throughout their career, Taking Back Sunday has released eight studio albums, including “New Again” (2009), “Taking Back Sunday” (2011), “Happiness Is” (2014), “Tidal Wave” (2016), and “152” (2023). Their consistent output and touring, including a 20th-anniversary tour in 2019, have maintained their presence in the rock music community.
