The Arcs, an American garage rock band, emerged as a vibrant side project of Dan Auerbach, the acclaimed guitarist and vocalist of the Black Keys. Formed in 2015, the band quickly made a name for itself with their debut album, “Yours, Dreamily,” released on September 4, 2015. This album showcased Auerbach’s distinctive sound and songwriting prowess, establishing The Arcs as a formidable force in the rock genre. The band, consisting of talented musicians Leon Michels, Nick Movshon, Homer Steinweiss, and the late Richard Swift, captivated audiences with their unique blend of rock, soul, and psychedelic influences.
Following their successful debut, The Arcs continued to evolve, performing at prestigious festivals such as Coachella in 2016. Their dynamic live performances further solidified their reputation as a must-see act. Although a second album was initially announced during their 2015 tour, it took several years for the project to materialize. However, the anticipation culminated in the release of their sophomore album, “Electrophonic Chronic,” on January 27, 2023. This album was a heartfelt tribute to Richard Swift, who passed away in 2018, and it featured contributions from the original lineup, showcasing the band’s commitment to honoring their late member.
“Electrophonic Chronic” was co-produced by Auerbach and Michels, recorded in renowned studios such as Easy Eye Sound in Nashville and Electric Lady Studios in Manhattan. The album’s lead single, “Keep on Dreamin’,” exemplified the band’s artistic growth and dedication to their craft. Auerbach described the recording process as a way to celebrate Swift’s legacy, emphasizing the emotional depth and collaborative spirit that defined the project.
With a discography that includes notable singles and music videos like “Outta My Mind” and “Put a Flower in Your Pocket,” The Arcs continue to push creative boundaries. Their ability to blend various musical styles while maintaining a distinct identity has garnered them a loyal fanbase and critical acclaim. As they move forward, The Arcs remain a testament to the power of collaboration and the enduring impact of music.
