Rashed Uddin Ahmed Topu, known professionally as Topu, was born on June 2, 1982. His early life involved frequent relocations due to his father’s career in the Bangladesh Army, including time spent in Comilla Cantonment. He attended Ispahani Public School in Chittagong and later Barisal Cadet College, where he completed his SSC in 1998 and HSC. Topu holds a bachelor’s degree in computer science and an MBA from North South University. His interest in music developed during his high school years, with an acoustic guitar gifted by his father for his SSC results further encouraging his passion. He began composing and writing lyrics, performing for the first time at Barisal Cadet College.

Topu’s professional music career began during his time at North South University. In 2003, he became involved with the North South University Shangskritik Shangothon (NSUSS). In 2004, he co-formed the band “Yaatri” with Emran. Their first single, “Ek Paye Nupur,” was featured in the 2004 compilation album *Shopnochura*. Following the success of “Ek Paye Nupur” and another single, “Ekta Gopon Kotha,” Yaatri secured a record deal with G-Series in November 2005. The band released their debut album, *Daak*, in October 2006, which included popular songs such as “Ei Ki Beshi Na,” “Bhalobasha Shunechi Ja,” “Ojana Mone,” “Ke Daake,” and “Mitthey Prem.” His first solo studio album, *Bondhu Bhabo Ki*, was released in 2008 creating huge popularity for him and he subsequently released four solo studio albums: *Shey Ke?* (2010), *Aar Tomake* (2013), and *Dekha Hobe Boley* (2015).

Beyond his musical releases, Topu has also engaged in other creative endeavors. In 2010, he made his debut as a writer with the book *Ekti Gopon Kotha*, which contained lyrics from 36 of his songs. He has also ventured into television hosting, presenting programs such as *Monbondhur Moner Deshe* and *Amar Guitar Amar Gaan*. In 2009, he appeared in the film *Third Person Singular Number*, marking his film debut. He has received recognition for his work, including winning the Meril Prothom Alo Award for Best Film Actor (Critics Choice) in 2010 for his role in *Third Person Singular Number*.
