Vagabon, also known as Laetitia Tamko, is a Cameroonian-American multi-instrumentalist, singer-songwriter, and producer who has built a career exploring genre-fluid music and challenging indie-rock conventions. After initiating her career as a recording artist by uploading original music to Bandcamp in 2014, Vagabon, also known as Laetitia Tamko, went on to establish herself as a genre-fluid multi-instrumentalist, singer-songwriter, and producer. Her critically acclaimed debut album, Infinite Worlds, released in 2017, showcased her distinctive talents across vocals, guitar, drums, keyboard, and synth, earning widespread praise for challenging indie-rock conventions. Building on this momentum, Vagabon received an invitation in 2018 to open for Courtney Barnett’s North American summer tour, marking a significant step in her burgeoning career.
This Nonesuch Records release, developed in collaboration with HAIM producer Rostam, further deepened her genre-bending aesthetic, characterized by vibrant melodies and dance music elements designed to uplift and connect audiences. Her musical contributions have extended into popular media, notably with her cover of ‘If I Loved You’ featured in the 2023 film Red, White, & Royal Blue. Vagabon has also graced prominent stages, including a performance at the Newport Folk Festival in July 2021, and supported artists like Arlo Parks on tours across the USA and Europe in 2023, culminating in a performance at London’s Hammersmith Apollo. Through her extensive body of work, Vagabon consistently demonstrates her versatility as a multi-instrumentalist, producer, and songwriter.
Her genre-defying sound and introspective lyricism continue to resonate, positioning her as a unique and compelling voice in contemporary music. With a proven track record of successful album releases, high-profile collaborations, and extensive touring across major venues and festivals, Vagabon remains an actively touring and recording artist, consistently delivering innovative music that pushes artistic boundaries.
