About

Celia Pavey, known professionally as Vera Blue, was born in Forbes, New South Wales, Australia. She began her career by appearing on Season 2 of The Voice Australia in 2013. During her time on the show, Pavey showcased her vocal talents, playing guitar and violin, ultimately placing third in the competition. Her audition performance of “Scarborough Fair / Canticle” by Simon & Garfunkel gained significant online attention, accruing over 14 million views. Following her appearance on The Voice, she released her debut studio album, “This Music,” in July 2013, which reached number 14 on the Australian ARIA Charts. In 2014, Pavey released her debut EP, “Bodies,” produced by Eric J. Dubowsky, and toured Australia’s east coast to support it.

In August 2015, Pavey began releasing music under the moniker Vera Blue, marking a shift in her musical direction towards a more electronic sound. Her EP “Fingertips” was released on May 13, 2016, featuring singles “Hold” and “Settle.” “Hold” gained international recognition, peaking at number 5 on the US Spotify viral top 50 chart and topping the Australian Viral 50 chart. A significant milestone in 2016 was her collaboration with Australian rapper Illy on the song “Papercuts,” which reached number two on the ARIA singles chart. In February 2017, she released “Private,” followed by her second studio album “Perennial” in July 2017, which peaked at number 6 on the ARIA Charts and later achieved Gold certification in Australia. Her track “Regular Touch” from “Perennial” was ranked at number 15 on triple j’s 2017 Hottest 100.

Continuing her artistic evolution, Vera Blue released the single “All The Pretty Girls” in October 2018 and the live album “Lady Powers Live at the Forum.” In February 2019, she partnered with Greenpeace to release “Like I Remember You,” using her platform to raise awareness about environmental issues, specifically opposing oil drilling in the Great Australian Bight. Her third overall album, “Mercurial,” was released on October 28, 2022, preceded by the single “The Curse.” In May 2025, she released “In the Corner,” her first single in three years, and performed the national anthem at the AFL Grand Final in September 2025, further solidifying her presence in Australian music and culture. She has toured extensively, supporting artists like Conrad Sewell, Matt Corby, and Broods, and has performed at major festivals such as Splendour in the Grass.
