Songwriter, producer and musician Louis Schoorl is the musical mind behind hit singles from the likes of 5 Seconds of Summer, Dami Im and Taylor Henderson. His records have topped charts in Sweden, Australia and Japan, and he was named Breakthrough Songwriter of the Year at the 2014 APRA (Australian Performing Rights Association) Awards.
Born in The Netherlands but based out of Sydney, Schoorl has worked with many of the biggest names in Australian music, including The Veronicas, Jessica Mauboy and Delta Goodrem, and international stars including Passenger, The Fooo and Kimbra. He has produced tracks such as Girls’ Generation’s My Oh My, Jai Waetford’s Your Eyes, and Impossible by 360 featuring Daniel Johns, and has producing credits on the 5 Seconds of Summer EP Somewhere New, Guy Sebastian’s album Armageddon, and the 360 record Utopia.
Schoorl has worked extensively with Australia’s Got Talent and X Factor Australia finalist Taylor Henderson, producing his album Burnt Letters and co-writing singles When You Were Mine, Already Gone and Borrow My Heart Schoorl co-wrote the original song Gotcha for film The Sapphires, and also wrote for Sweden’s entry at the 2018 Eurovision Song Contest. The song, Dance You Off, received the sought-after 12 points from eight countries’ jury panels, finished seventh overall, and went on to chart across Europe.
Schoorl has received an ARIA Award for Best Pop Release for Guy Sebastian’s Armageddon in 2013, and the following year received an impressive four nominations at the awards in the categories of Song of the Year, Best Pop Release, Best Adult Contemporary Album and Best Urban Album.
