Wallice

Wallice Hana Watanabe, known professionally as Wallice, was born on April 3, 1998, in Los Angeles, California. Her early life included an appearance in the ‘Frasier’ Christmas special “We Two Kings” at the age of four. She later pursued jazz performance and voice at The New School in New York City before deciding to leave to focus on her music career full-time, an experience she referenced in her song “23”. She began her musical journey, collaborating with producer Marinelli, who was a long-time friend.

Wallice released her first song, “Nyc,” in 2017, followed by “Rx” in 2018. The same year, she released her debut EP, “Big Sugar,” though it has since been delisted. A significant turning point in her career occurred in 2020 with the release of her single “Punching Bag.” This track gained considerable traction, accumulating four million streams and being featured on Spotify’s “Lorem” playlist. In 2021, Wallice signed with Dirty Hit, an independent record label, further expanding her reach. That same year, she participated in Spotify’s Fresh Finds marketing program, collaborating with Marinelli and Ariel Rechtshaid to release “Nothing Scares Me” exclusively on Spotify. She also opened for Chloe Moriondo in 2021 and performed at the Moroccan Lounge in Los Angeles.

Her career progressed with performances at the All Things Go Festival in 2022 and supporting The 1975 on their Manila and Australian tour in April 2023. Wallice has released several EPs, including “Off the Rails” (2021), “90s American Superstar” (2022), and “Mr. Big Shot” (2023). Her debut studio album, “The Jester,” was released in 2024. While her sound has been described as earnest, crafty, and self-aware, her artistic influences include Weezer and MGMT. Although she was dropped from Dirty Hit in October 2025 due to implied underperformance of her debut album, she continues to release music, including singles like “Heaven Has To Happen,” “The Opener,” “Gut Punch Love,” and “I Want You Yesterday” in 2024.
