Evan Kenneth Craft, born on April 8, 1991, in Conejo Valley, California, began his musical journey early, learning guitar at age 12 and writing songs throughout high school. His formative years included linguistic studies in Spain and Costa Rica, deepening his fluency in Spanish, which would become a cornerstone of his career. This bilingual proficiency significantly influenced his music, allowing him to connect with a broad international audience. His early endeavors included self-releasing albums and EPs, which he sold at shows.
Craft’s career gained significant momentum with the release of his first Spanish-language album, “Yo Soy Segundo,” in 2012 under Dream Records. This album debuted successfully, reaching number 10 on the Latin Pop Albums chart and number 30 on the Top Latin Albums chart, establishing him as a notable figure in Latin Christian music. Following this, he toured extensively across Latin America, performing in churches, schools, and orphanages, delivering evangelical messages. He continued to release music, including “Jóvenes Somos” in 2014 and “Principio Y Fin” in 2015. The latter, featuring artists like Carlos PenaVega and Danilo Montero, was nominated for the 2016 GMA Dove Award for Spanish Language Album of the Year.
His artistic output continued with “Impulso” in 2017, which also received a GMA Dove Award nomination in 2018 for Spanish Language Album of the Year. In 2021, Craft released the double album “Desesperado,” which included popular songs like “Tu Señor” and “Desesperado.” The single “Be Alright,” a collaboration with Danny Gokey and Redimi2, achieved significant chart success, peaking at number two on the Hot Christian Songs chart. “Desesperado” went on to win the 52nd GMA Dove Award for Spanish Language Album of the Year, marking a significant milestone in his career. Beyond music, he co-founded Mi Casa homeless shelter, contributing to social causes.
