Vlad Holiday was born on May 24, 1989, in Bucharest, Romania, and moved to the United States in September 1999. He began his musical journey as a self-taught guitar player at age 12, soon after starting to write songs. Initially focusing on guitar in his early bands, he eventually found his voice as a solo artist. Holiday spent a significant portion of his career in New York City before relocating to Nashville, Tennessee, in 2023. His artistry encompasses a blend of genres including lo-fi, bedroom pop, psych rock, dream pop, and jazz, often characterized by hip-hop-inspired drum patterns and a notable affinity for vintage recording equipment.
Holiday launched his solo career in 2017, independently releasing singles recorded at his studio in Greenwich Village, New York City. His debut track, “Quit Playing Cool,” premiered on Nylon in July 2017. A significant milestone in his early career was the release of “So Damn Into You” in July 2019, which has accumulated over 18 million streams to date and featured background vocals by Charlotte Kemp Muhl. In March 2020, he released his debut EP, “Fall Apart With Me,” followed by the “Write Me Off The Show” EP in November 2021, which led to tours across America and sold-out shows in Paris, London, and Istanbul.
In 2024, Holiday released his debut album, “My Favorite Drug,” which included collaborations with Kacey Musgraves and Matt Shultz of Cage The Elephant. The album achieved commercial success, peaking at No. 9 on the Sub-Modern Albums Radio Chart, with the single “Closer” reaching No. 14 at Alternative Specialty Radio. Concurrently, Holiday contributed to Cage The Elephant’s album, “Neon Pill,” co-writing and providing background vocals on several tracks, including “Neon Pill” and “Metaverse.” “Neon Pill” received a Grammy nomination for Best Alternative Music Performance, and both “Neon Pill” and “Metaverse” topped Billboard’s Alternative Airplay radio chart, marking significant achievements in his career.
