We Are Messengers formed in Monaghan, Ireland, in 2015, relocating to the United States the same year. The band’s current lineup includes Darren Mulligan on lead vocals and guitar, Andrew Pickens on keys, Thaddeus Johnson on guitar, Tanner White on bass, and Kenaniah Caron on drums. Their musical style encompasses Christian rock, Contemporary Christian music, and Christian pop, distributed through labels such as Word, Curb, and Warner Bros.
The group released its self-titled debut studio album, “We Are Messengers,” on April 22, 2016. This album reached No. 10 on the Billboard Top Christian Albums chart and No. 16 on the Top Heatseekers Albums chart. In 2019, they released the EP “Honest,” which achieved No. 7 on the Top Christian Albums chart and No. 44 on the Top Album Sales chart. We Are Messengers has also had five singles reach the Top 10 on Billboard’s Christian Airplay chart, including “Maybe It’s Ok” and “Magnify.”
Subsequent studio albums include “Power” (2020) and “Wholehearted” (2021), both of which reached No. 15 on the Top Christian Albums chart. Noteworthy singles like “Come What May” (2021) and “Maybe It’s Ok” (2018) each earned Gold certifications from the RIAA. The band received a nomination for New Artist of the Year at the GMA Dove Awards in 2016, further acknowledging their impact in the Christian music industry.
