Aaron Jones was born on December 2, 1994, in Savannah, Georgia. He grew up moving frequently due to his parents’ careers as non-commissioned officers in the US Army, residing in places like Germany, Kentucky, Tennessee, Virginia, and El Paso, Texas. He attended Burges High School in El Paso, where he excelled in football. Jones then went on to play college football for the UTEP Miners from 2013 to 2016, becoming the most prolific rusher in UTEP history with a record 4,114 career rushing yards and 33 rushing touchdowns. He holds school records for most games with over 100 and 200 rushing yards, demonstrating his consistent high performance.
Jones was drafted by the Green Bay Packers in the fifth round of the 2017 NFL draft. Throughout his seven seasons with the Packers, he established himself as a prominent player, leading the league in rushing touchdowns in 2019 and earning a Pro Bowl selection in 2020. He consistently demonstrated his versatility, accumulating significant rushing and receiving yards, and ranking third on the team’s all-time rushing yards list. His career with the Packers saw multiple seasons with over 1,000 rushing yards and numerous multi-touchdown games, making him a critical offensive asset.
In 2024, Jones joined the Minnesota Vikings, where he continued to contribute effectively to the team’s offense before being placed on injured reserve due to a hamstring injury in September 2025. He re-signed with the Vikings for a two-year, $20 million contract in March 2025. Beyond his on-field achievements, Jones is also known for his off-field dedication, including graduating from UTEP with a degree in multidisciplinary studies and participating in community initiatives such as youth football camps.
