During her time at Texas A&M, Kunz also demonstrated her versatile athletic prowess by playing soccer for the Aggies women’s soccer team, participating in 97 games and scoring 39 goals. Soon after turning professional, she began representing the United States at significant international events, including the 2019 World Athletics Championships and two Thorpe Cups. Kunz’s career progression saw a steady rise in national and international multi-event competitions. In 2019, she earned a silver medal in the heptathlon at the Pan American Games.
A pivotal moment came in 2020 when she became a national indoor champion, winning the pentathlon at the USA Indoor Track and Field Championships with an impressive 4610 points. This achievement further solidified her status as a leading multi-event athlete. Her consistent high performance culminated in qualifying for the 2020 Summer Olympics in Tokyo. Building on her national championship, Kunz demonstrated elite form by winning the US Olympic Trials in 2021 with a commanding 6703 points in the heptathlon, securing her spot for the global stage.
She went on to represent the United States at the delayed 2020 Summer Olympics in Tokyo in 2021, where she showcased her exceptional talent by placing 6th in the heptathlon with a score of 6420 points, marking a significant personal and national achievement at the highest level of international competition. Annie Kunz continues to compete at an elite level in track and field. In 2024, she achieved a season’s best of 6209 points in the heptathlon, underscoring her ongoing commitment and performance prowess in the sport.
