Aidan Quinn

Aidan Quinn was born on March 8, 1959, in Chicago, Illinois. Raised in both Illinois and Ireland, he developed an interest in acting at the age of nineteen. He trained at the Piven Theatre Workshop in Chicago. Quinn made his film debut in “Reckless” (1984), and gained early recognition for his role as Dez in “Desperately Seeking Susan” (1985). This was followed by a notable performance in the television film “An Early Frost” (1985), which earned him his first Primetime Emmy Award nomination. His early career demonstrated a commitment to diverse roles, establishing him as an actor capable of emotional depth in various genres.

Throughout the 1990s, Quinn appeared in several significant films, including “The Mission” (1986), “Stakeout” (1987), “Avalon” (1990), “Benny & Joon” (1993), “Legends of the Fall” (1994), “Mary Shelley’s Frankenstein” (1994), “Michael Collins” (1996), and “Practical Magic” (1998). A notable turning point was his role as Captain Thomas Gregson in the CBS television series “Elementary,” where he starred in 154 episodes from 2012 to 2019. He received his second Primetime Emmy nomination in 2007 for his performance in the television movie “Bury My Heart at Wounded Knee.” Quinn’s career reflects a sustained presence in both independent and mainstream projects.

His work includes roles in “Flipped” (2010), “Unknown” (2011), and more recently, “Daughter of the Bride” (2023).
