Aidy Bryant

Aidy Bryant was born on May 7, 1987, in Phoenix, Arizona. She developed an early interest in comedy, participating in improv workshops during her school years. Bryant pursued her passion at Columbia College Chicago, graduating with a Bachelor of Arts in 2009. During her time in Chicago, she honed her skills performing with improvisational theater groups such as iO Chicago, The Second City, and the Annoyance Theatre. Her talent led to her being approached by The Second City, where she was a writer and ensemble member for productions like “Sky’s the Limit, Weather Permitting” and “We’re All In This Room Together.” These formative experiences in Chicago’s vibrant comedy scene laid the groundwork for her national recognition.

Bryant’s career significantly advanced when she joined the cast of ‘Saturday Night Live’ as a featured player on September 15, 2012. She was promoted to a repertory player in her second season, becoming a prominent figure on the show for a decade until her departure at the end of the 47th season in 2022. Her work on ‘SNL’ earned her multiple accolades, including three Primetime Emmy Award nominations, two for Outstanding Supporting Actress in a Comedy Series, and one for Outstanding Original Music and Lyrics. Beyond ‘SNL’, Bryant starred in the Hulu series ‘Shrill’ from 2019 to 2021, where she also served as a co-writer and co-executive producer. Her performance in ‘Shrill’ garnered her a Primetime Emmy Award nomination for Outstanding Lead Actress in a Comedy Series, showcasing her abilities as both an actress and a creative force behind the camera.

In recent years, Bryant has continued to expand her portfolio. She voiced Emmy Fairfax in the adult animated series ‘Human Resources’ (2022–2023) and has taken on directorial roles, including a music video for the country music duo Plains in 2022. Bryant has also been recognized for her hosting abilities, having helmed the Film Independent Spirit Awards in 2024 and being slated to return in 2025.
