Al Leiter

Al Leiter, a former Major League Baseball pitcher, has transitioned from a distinguished playing career, marked by multiple World Series championships and individual accolades, to a prominent role as a television sports commentator and a baseball operations advisor. After securing three World Series Championships, including two with the Toronto Blue Jays in 1993 and one with the Florida Marlins in 1997, Al Leiter established himself as a prominent Major League Baseball pitcher before transitioning to an acclaimed career as a television sports commentator and baseball operations advisor. Leiter was selected by the New York Yankees in the second round of the 1984 MLB draft and made his MLB debut as a starting pitcher for the Yankees on September 15, 1987, earning a win against the Milwaukee Brewers. He was traded to the Toronto Blue Jays on April 30, 1989, contributing to their World Series victory in 1993.

In 2009, he joined MLB Network as a studio analyst and has since received multiple National Sports Emmy Award Nominations for Studio Analyst in 2009, 2011, 2013, 2015, 2018, and 2019. He has also earned Sports Emmy Awards for Outstanding Studio Show-Daily MLB Tonight Segment Producer in 2012, 2014, 2016, and 2019, in addition to a New York Sports Emmy for game analyst for YES Network in 2016. In March 2019, Leiter expanded his contributions to baseball by joining the New York Mets as a baseball operations advisor, focusing on scouting, player development, and mental preparation for pitchers. Beyond his baseball and broadcasting roles, he is actively involved in charitable initiatives through his ‘Leiter’s Landing’ foundation and has contributed to public service, including positions on Governor Chris Christie’s transition team and the New Jersey Sports, Gaming, and Entertainment Committee.
