Alejandro Tabilo

Born on June 2, 1997, in Toronto, Canada, Alejandro Tabilo Álvarez later chose to represent Chile, the country of his parents. His father, Ricardo, from Antofagasta, settled in North America in 1988, where he met his mother, María, from San Felipe. Tabilo obtained dual nationality and first traveled to Santiago at 18 for a tennis competition, which led to him moving to Chile permanently at 19, with the ambition of playing for the nation.

Tabilo turned professional in 2015. His career highlights include his ATP Tour debut at the 2020 ATP Cup and his first Grand Slam appearance at the 2020 Australian Open, where he secured his first Major win. The year 2022 marked a significant period for Tabilo, as he reached his first ATP final at the Córdoba Open and subsequently entered the top 100 rankings. He became the No. 1 Chilean player that year. In 2024, Tabilo achieved his maiden ATP Tour title at the Auckland Open, followed by another title at the Mallorca Championships, making him the first Chilean man in the Open Era to win a grass-court title. He also made history at the 2024 Italian Open by upsetting world No. 1 Novak Djokovic, his first victory over a top 10 player.
