Jack Aitken is a British-South Korean racing driver currently competing for Action Express Racing in the IMSA SportsCar Championship and for Emil Frey Racing in the Deutsche Tourenwagen Masters. Aitken has a rich motorsport background, having previously served as a reserve driver for Williams Racing in Formula One and being a part of both the Renault Sport Academy and Williams Driver Academy.
Born in London to a Scottish father and South Korean mother, Aitken began his racing journey at the age of seven, starting in karting at Buckmore Park. He quickly progressed to car racing, making his debut in the Intersteps Championship with Fortec Motorsport. Aitken continued to develop his skills across various series, including the Formula Renault BARC Winter Series, Formula Renault NEC, and Formula Renault Eurocup.
In 2015, Aitken won the Formula Renault Eurocup, which earned him a place in the Renault young driver academy, where he remained until 2019. He competed in the GP3 Series in 2016 and 2017, further honing his craft before stepping up to Formula 2 in 2018. His impressive performances led to his selection as Williams F1’s reserve driver in 2020, a role in which he made his race debut at the 2020 Sakhir Grand Prix, stepping in for George Russell, who had filled in for Lewis Hamilton at Mercedes.
After announcing his exit from Williams in January 2023, Aitken has continued to showcase his versatility and skill in endurance racing and touring cars. With a promising future ahead, Jack Aitken remains a dynamic force in the world of motorsport.
