Alexander Norén, born on July 12, 1982, in Stockholm, Sweden, began his golf journey at the age of four at Haninge Golf Club. He balanced several sports before ultimately dedicating his focus to golf, achieving early success by winning the unofficial Swedish Youth Championship at 14. His foundational years also included attending a Swedish upper secondary sports school, integrating academic pursuits with intensive golf training, and working as a junior editor for the official magazine of the Swedish Golf Federation.
Norén’s amateur career was marked by representing Sweden at various levels, including a victory at the 2002 European Youths’ Team Championship and a bronze medal finish at the 2004 Eisenhower Trophy. He honed his skills at Oklahoma State University in the United States, where he consistently achieved top finishes and earned academic and athletic honors, contributing to a team victory at the Jerry Pate. Turning professional at the end of 2005, Norén quickly secured a spot on the Challenge Tour.
His professional ascent continued with a maiden victory at the Rolex Trophy in 2006, leading to his graduation to the European Tour for the 2007 season. Norén has since achieved 12 European Tour wins, including prominent titles such as the BMW PGA Championship, Aberdeen Asset Management Scottish Open, British Masters, HNA Open de France, and the Nedbank Golf Challenge. A key highlight of his career was being part of the winning 2018 European Ryder Cup team, contributing to their victory.
