Multi-award-winning actor, singer, producer, and director Alex Wolff shot to fame when he was just eight years old, playing a fictionalised version himself in The Naked Brothers Band, a successful musical comedy film that spawned a hit Nickelodeon series of the same name. As an adult, he has embraced a wide variety of roles in movies as diverse as My Big Fat Greek Wedding 2, My Friend Dahmer, Patriots Day, and Jumanji: Welcome to the Jungle. He has won awards for his acting in comedy films (Hairbrained), drama movies (Coming Through the Rye), and supernatural horror thrillers (Hereditary). His full-length directorial debut came in 2019 with coming-of-age drama movie The Cat and the Moon.
Wolff was born in Manhattan in 1997. His acting break came early when, alongside his older brother Nat, he starred in The Naked Brothers Band: The Movie, which was conceived, written, and directed by the pair’s mother, actor Polly Draper. The movie was well received at film festivals and picked up for screening by Nickelodeon, who subsequently commissioned a spin-off TV series. The series ran for three seasons, becoming one of the channel’s most highly-rated shows in years and making stars of the Wolff brothers — they would score two Billboard Top 200 albums with self-composed songs from the series.
As Wolff grew, so did his acting ambitions. During his teenage years, he began to take on more serious, demanding roles, whilst also becoming adept at comic acting. With recent projects including Jumanji: The Next Level and horror film Old, he’ll continue to enthral long-time fans and win new ones.
