Alexis Mac Allister

Alexis Mac Allister was born on December 24, 1998, in Santa Rosa, La Pampa, into a footballing family, with his father, Carlos, and older brothers, Francis and Kevin, also playing professionally. His football journey began at Club Social Parque academy before joining Argentinos Juniors. He made his senior debut in October 2016, contributing to the team’s promotion to the Argentinian top flight in the 2016–17 season. In 2019, Mac Allister signed with Brighton & Hove Albion but was immediately loaned back to Argentinos Juniors and then to Boca Juniors, where he won the 2019–20 Primera División. He later fully established himself at Brighton during the 2021–22 season, making 33 Premier League appearances and scoring five goals. His performance continued to develop, earning him a nomination for Premier League Young Player of the Season and helping Brighton secure European football for the first time in their history in 2022–23.

Mac Allister’s significant career progression includes his instrumental role in Argentina’s success at the 2022 FIFA World Cup, where he started all but one of the team’s fixtures, scored against Poland, and provided an assist in the final victory over France. In June 2023, Liverpool FC acquired Mac Allister from Brighton & Hove Albion, where he quickly integrated into the squad. In his first season at Anfield, he made 46 appearances, contributing seven goals and seven assists, and secured a Carabao Cup winner’s medal. His goal against Fulham was nominated for Premier League Goal of the Season. He continued his success by winning the 2024 Copa América with Argentina, marking his third senior international trophy in as many years.

In the 2024–25 season, Mac Allister became a consistent starting midfielder for Liverpool under new manager Arne Slot. He made his UEFA Champions League debut in September and scored his first goal in the competition in October. He was named man of the match in a 2–0 win over Real Madrid in November 2024, Liverpool’s first victory against the Spanish club in 15 years. In December 2024, he provided two assists in a comeback win against Leicester City. He scored Liverpool’s second goal in a 5–1 win over Tottenham Hotspur in April 2025, securing the club’s second Premier League title and 20th overall English league title. His outstanding performance in April earned him the Premier League Player of the Month award and Liverpool’s Player of the Month. He was also named in the PFA Team of the Year and was nominated for the PFA Players’ Player of the Year and the 2025 Ballon d’Or, finishing 22nd.
