Alice Levine was born on July 8, 1986, in Beeston, Nottinghamshire, England. She pursued higher education at the University of Leeds, studying English. During her time at university, she connected with Jamie Morton and James Cooper, who would later become her collaborators on the successful podcast, “My Dad Wrote a Porno.” Her career in media began with hosting “Celebrity Bites” for MTV, which subsequently led to covering events such as the MTV Europe Music Awards.
Levine’s television presence expanded significantly when she co-hosted “Big Brother’s Bit on the Side” with Jamie East from 2011 to 2013 on Channel 5. In 2013, she joined BBC Radio 1, initially co-presenting a show with Phil Taggart. By 2014, she transitioned to hosting her own solo weekend afternoon show on Radio 1, taking over from Huw Stephens. She also hosted “Barclaycard Mercury Music Sessions” for Channel 4 in 2014, and presented various music and arts coverage for major events, including Glastonbury for the BBC and backstage at the BRIT Awards for ITV2. A significant turning point in her career was the co-creation of the podcast “My Dad Wrote a Porno,” which gained considerable recognition and success. She also co-hosted a series of Channel 4’s “The Circle” with Maya Jama.
Beyond broadcasting, Levine co-founded the food and lifestyle brand Jackson & Levine with Laura Jackson. This partnership led to food columns in “Company,” “Elle,” and “Marie Claire” magazines, a published book titled “Round to Ours,” and two product ranges for Habitat. In 2020, after nine years, Levine departed from BBC Radio 1. The same year, she became the curator for BBC Radio 4’s “The Museum of Curiosity.” Her work with Channel 4 continued with “Sex Actually with Alice Levine,” a series that explores modern relationships and sexuality, for which she served as a writer and producer. She has also appeared on numerous comedy panel shows, including “Never Mind the Buzzcocks,” “8 Out of 10 Cats,” “QI,” and was a contestant on “Taskmaster” in 2018. In 2021, she began co-hosting the Wondery true crime podcast “British Scandal” and in 2024, produced and presented “The Price of Paradise.”
