Jeremy Strong

Jeremy Strong was born on December 25, 1978, in Boston, Massachusetts. He grew up in a working-class family and developed an early interest in acting after moving to Sudbury, Massachusetts, at age 10. He studied at Yale University, and further honed his craft at the Royal Academy of Dramatic Art in London and the Steppenwolf Theatre Company in Chicago. Prior to his breakthrough, Strong undertook various roles, including a production assistant and a typist, while performing in off-Broadway plays. His early stage work included a role in John Patrick Shanley’s play “Defiance” (2006) and his Broadway debut in “A Man for All Seasons” (2008) alongside Frank Langella. Strong’s film career began with small roles in notable films such as “Lincoln” (2012) and “Zero Dark Thirty” (2012), before gaining wider recognition.

Strong achieved significant recognition for his portrayal of Kendall Roy in the HBO drama series “Succession” (2018–2023). This role earned him a Primetime Emmy Award for Outstanding Lead Actor in a Drama Series in 2020 and a Golden Globe Award for Best Actor – Television Series Drama in 2021. His filmography also includes performances in “The Big Short” (2015), “Molly’s Game” (2017), “The Gentlemen” (2019), and “The Trial of the Chicago 7” (2020), where he played Jerry Rubin. Strong’s commitment to his roles is well-documented, with a method acting approach he terms “identity diffusion,” where he fully immerses himself in the character’s circumstances.

In recent years, Strong has expanded his career further, returning to Broadway in 2024 to critical acclaim in Henrik Ibsen’s “An Enemy of the People,” for which he received a Tony Award for Best Leading Actor in a Play. In the film “The Apprentice” (2024), he garnered Best Supporting Actor nominations for his portrayal of Roy Cohn. He is slated to appear in “Springsteen: Deliver Me from Nowhere” (2025) as music producer Jon Landau and will portray Mark Zuckerberg in “The Social Reckoning,” a sequel to “The Social Network.” Strong joined the Actors Branch of the Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences in 2025 and served as a jury member at the 78th Cannes Film Festival.
