Alison Pill

Alison Pill was born on November 27, 1985, in Toronto, Ontario, Canada. Her father is an Estonian professional engineer. Pill began her career as a child actress, deciding to pursue acting at the age of 10. Her early experiences included narrating performances for the Toronto Children’s Chorus and working as a background performer on television. By the age of 11, she had secured a guest role in “The New Ghostwriter Mysteries,” and at 12, she appeared in two TV movies and a mini-series, alongside a guest appearance on “Psi Factor.” She also voiced the character “Cornflower” in the animated series “Redwall” from 1999 to 2001. Pill’s initial feature film role was in the Canadian movie “The Life Before This” in 1999, followed by a role in “Jacob Two Two Meets the Hooded Fang.

She continued to build her filmography with roles in various TV movies and features, including playing Farrah Fawcett’s daughter in “Baby” (2000) and a lead in “The Dinosaur Hunter,” for which she received an award for Best Child Actress at the Burbank International Film Festival. In 2001, Pill played young Lorna in the ABC-TV biopic “Life with Judy Garland: Me and My Shadows” and Sissy Spacek’s daughter in “Midwives.” She appeared in “Pieces of April” (2003) as Katie Holmes’s sister and took a lead role in the CTV-TV movie “Fast Food High.” Her supporting role in “Confessions of a Teenage Drama Queen” (2003), starring Lindsay Lohan, marked another notable early achievement. Pill also transitioned to stage acting, making her New York City debut in “None of the Above.” In 2006, she appeared in the NBC drama “The Book of Daniel.” That same year, she made her Broadway debut in “The Lieutenant of Inishmore,” earning a Tony Award nomination for Best Featured Actress in a Play.
