Anamarija Lampič is a Slovenian cross-country skier who made her Olympic debut at the 2018 Winter Games in Pyeongchang, South Korea, along with her younger brother, Janez Lampič, who also skis cross-country. She ended up landing in the top ten for the women’s sprint classic, beating out her brother who did not qualify. The following year, she was decorated in silver at the World Championships during the team sprint. In 2020, she holds bronze for the sprint season standings.
Lampič’s been in the pro leagues since 2014, but she really made her mark in the 2016/2017 season when she earned her first gold individual podium at the World Cup during the 1.4 kilometer sprint. The following year, she proved herself on the international stage with her first season title for the U23 discipline.
More recently, Lampič brought home two more golds from Stage World Cups in both Lenzerheide, Switzerland (1.5 kilometer sprint), and Val di Fiemme, Italy (1.3 kilometer sprint). For those same two distances, she also earned two silvers in Germany in early 2020. With her steady rise in cross-country skiing, she sees a parallel rise in her following: currently, she has 7.5K followers on Instagram.
Her father, also named Janez Lampič, was an Olympian, as well: he competed in the 1984 Summer Olympics for Yugoslavia as a professional road cyclist, giving this family a long line of athletic success.
