Andrew Ng

Andrew Ng is a leading researcher and entrepreneur in artificial intelligence and online education, known for his work in deep learning and making AI accessible globally. After receiving his Ph.D. in Computer Science from the University of California, Berkeley in 2002, Andrew Ng joined Stanford University, initially as an assistant professor before advancing to associate professor and later becoming Director of the Stanford AI Lab (SAIL). During his tenure, his machine learning course (CS229) became one of the most popular on campus.

At Baidu, Ng built and led the company’s Artificial Intelligence Group, driving major advancements in areas such as facial recognition and the development of sophisticated AI chatbots like Melody. Departing Baidu in 2017, Ng launched two new ventures: DeepLearning.AI, an online platform dedicated to providing advanced education in deep learning, and Landing AI, a company focused on delivering AI-powered SaaS products to various industries. Further expanding his impact on the AI ecosystem, in 2018, he established the AI Fund, a $175-million investment fund specifically designed to support and accelerate the growth of promising AI startups. Andrew Ng’s profound and continuous contributions to the field of artificial intelligence have earned him significant global recognition.

In 2023, he was named to the prestigious Time100 AI list, acknowledging his status as one of the world’s most influential figures in AI. Most recently, in April 2024, Amazon appointed Ng to its board of directors, further solidifying his pivotal role and ongoing leadership within the global AI landscape.
